Using the service

From an email client

Format of your identifier

Your email id is of the form "uid@domain.tld" (e.g. jdoe@criann.fr) while the receiving/transmitting email address is usually of the form "firstname.lastname@domain.tld" (e.g. john.doe@criann.fr).
Please make sure to define your identity for sending your emails (see the note at the bottom of this page) otherwise your correspondents will not be able to answer your emails.

To configure your email client, you will find in the table below all the settings for viewing and sending messages:

protocol server port encryption Authentication method
IMAP imap.syrhano.net 993
(Thunderbird : 143)
SSL
(Thunderbird : StartTLS)
Plaintext
SMTP smtp.syrhano.net 587 SSL
(Thunderbird : StartTLS)
Plaintext
Support for recent email clients

Using the latest versions of email clients can be problematic, especially when establishing encrypted connections. This is the case for example with the latest versions of Mozilla Thunderbird. Below you will find information on how to set up the client to support the connection to our servers.

  • Preferences (under the Edit menu in some OS, or in Tools under the name Settings)
  • General
  • Configuration Editor button
  • Search for security.tls.version.min, it shows 3 in recent clients
  • Change this value to 1 to support TLSv1.0

From a web browser

You can access your email box from the webmail https://webmail.syrhano.net using your login (of the form "uid@domain.tld") and the associated password.

Verify the identity of your account under the webmail

When using webmail for the first time or when there is a change in your email address, check and correct if necessary the identity you use to send emails via webmail.
Indeed, the webmail is configured by default with your login as email, but this login is not a valid email (see note at the top of this page).

  • Preferences
  • Identity tab
  • Email field: email address you wish to use for sending (must be a valid email address in your inbox otherwise your correspondents will not know how to answer you).
